Film Festival – for Children and Young People
The Film Festival is an introduction to the amazing world of animation for children and youngsters. The festival consists of two main parts; a part where classes learn how to make animated films, participating in the festival’s competitive pricing, and a part where we show free animated films of artistic quality in the cinema.
Project objective
The aim of the festival is to raise children’s awareness of the film media:
• We broaden the children’s horizon, allowing them to see some of the good artistic animation which is shown at European film festivals. Moreover, it gives people in Mid-Jutland a rare possibility of going to the cinema and watching the films.
• We introduce the film medium in the primary and lower secondary schools as an alternative medium for teaching compared to the written language. The pupils develop their skills with regard to giving a metaphorical and linguistic expression of their fantasy, thoughts and experiences. Animation is a universal language that provides academically weak and multilingual children with a possibility to express themselves and learn a lot.
The Film Festival is among others supported by Region Midtjylland, Viborg Municipality (Viborg Kommune) and The Danish Film Institute.
If you are interested in knowing more about the Film Festival, please feel free to visit us at www.animationsfestival.dk. or at the School Festival homepage.
The festival’s international page Eye of Animation provides children from several countries with a meeting place, where they show their best animated films. Every year the jury chooses the film that receives the 1st prize.
