Viborg Ungdomsskole – 10. Klasse (Viborg School – 10. Class)

Purpose
In cooperation with Viborg Ungdomsskole, Centre for Education and Animation offer animation as a course, the pupils can choose if they are interested in animation. The objective of the course is to give the pupils insight into what it is like working with animation and understanding the imagery of it. In the lesson plan, the pupils will work practical with animation of small films; e.g. using waxworks (cardboard or drawings) you make figures and give them life through recordings of small film sequences. Moreover, there will be work with drawing in the form of drawing techniques and drawing after model.

Furthermore, the aim is built on pupils experiences and qualifies their use with animation with a craftsmanship and an analytical dimension. Practice, production, analysis and reflection are part of an interaction situation and will be developed over time.

Animation Pedagogy
The pedagogy is based on a practical learning which uses animation as a tool. Animation strengthens the creative way of thinking and involves the senses in learning, which gives a greater opportunity to bring new knowledge into memory traces. Additionally, animation calls for group work and thereby collaboration. The pupils acquire a greater ability to analyse, evaluate and sort out the many daily supply of visual media; in other words, they learn to stay critical of imagery, which they are bombarded with daily through television, web sites, YouTube and mobile.
